Real Madrid Head Coach Jose Mourinho spoke to the media ahead of the Inter match. When asked whether Arda Güler would play in the center of midfield against Inter, Mourinho gave an interesting response.

A Spanish journalist asked , “Could Trent be tried in midfield?” Mourinho replied , “I won’t comment on that. I’m sorry. I could go on and on. None of the three (Bernardo, Camavinga, and Güler) will be there. The algorithm has made its decision. The question was clear; I was expecting it. But that’s the situation. We have five options and we could discuss all of them, but in the end, I won’t say anything.”

Recalling that the Santiago Bernabéu holds a special place in his career, Mourinho noted that he had both won the Champions League trophy there with Inter and been eliminated on penalties by Bayern Munich in the semifinals during his time at Real Madrid. Mourinho remarked, “ I’ve experienced both the best and worst moments at this stadium.” When asked if he felt he owed Real Madrid a Champions League title, Mourinho disagreed with that assessment. “No. These are two different periods; I finished my tenure in 2013. We won what we won, and we lost what we lost. We gave it everything we had, and that era came to an end,” he said.

Mourinho noted that his first stint at Real Madrid cannot be compared to the current situation, pointing out that the club struggled to even reach the quarterfinals in 2010, after which a different era began. The Portuguese coach said that his desire to win the Champions League with Real Madrid continues regardless of the past.

Meanwhile, commenting on the Real Betis match, Mourinho said, “I can say we’ll play beautiful soccer, but I don’t want to play beautifully and lose the match like we did against Real Betis. I want to beat Inter tomorrow.”

An Italian journalist presented Jose Mourinho with a fountain as a gift following the press conference ahead of the Inter match. The fountains at Camp Nou had been turned on in 2010 after Mourinho’s Inter team eliminated Barcelona.
