The statement read as follows: “DFB President Bernd Neuendorf and DFB Vice President Hans-Joachim Watzke held their first comprehensive meeting with Jürgen Klopp yesterday in New York regarding his potential appointment as head coach of the national team. During this constructive exchange of ideas, the parties reached an agreement on the fundamental terms of a potential contract.
Discussions will continue next week. Both sides are optimistic that the negotiations—subject to an agreement being reached with Klopp’s current employer, Red Bull—can ultimately be successfully concluded. Any potential contract must ultimately be decided upon and approved at a joint meeting of the Supervisory Board and the Partners’ Council of DFB GmbH & Co. KG.”The German national team parted ways with Julian Nagelsmann following their elimination by Paraguay in the 2026 World Cup.
