Jan Vesely, one of Fenerbahce's most memorable players and one of the first EuroLague champions, announced that he will end his basketball career.

Barcelona announced that veteran center Jan Vesely will end his professional basketball career at the end of the 2025-26 season. According to the club's official announcement, the 36-year-old Czech center will say goodbye after the end of the season. Vesely will end his career after playing his last season with Barcelona.

VESELY'S CAREER
Considered one of the most important big men in the history of the modern EuroLeague, Vesely started his basketball career in his native Czechia with Pribor and BK Snakes Ostrava. In 2007, he was transferred to Slovenia's Geoplin Slovan and made his debut in European basketball with Partizan in 2008.
During his time at Partizan, Vesely quickly became one of the most remarkable young players in Europe and played an important role in his team's run to the EuroLeague Final Four in the 2009-10 season.
HE SIGNED FOR FENERBAHCE
This performance opened the NBA doors for him. Jan Vesely was selected 6th overall by the Washington Wizards in the 2011 NBA Draft. After playing for the Washington Wizards and Denver Nuggets in the NBA, Vesely returned to Europe in 2014 and signed for Fenerbahce.

8 SEASONS IN UNIFORM
Jan Vesely has become a EuroLeague icon in his 8 seasons with Fenerbahce, winning the EuroLeague championship in 2017 with the Yellow-Navy team. In the 2018-19 season, he was named EuroLeague MVP. That season, he averaged 12.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 17.6 efficiency points in 25 minutes. Vesely was also named to the All-EuroLeague First Team three times in 2016, 2018 and 2019.
The Czech star, who has written his name in EuroLeague history, has played 414 EuroLeague games in his career. Vesely holds the record in the history of the organization with 1,701 two-pointers made.
Jan Vesely is also 4th in EuroLeague history with 5,481 efficiency points, 6th with 4,359 points, 3rd with 1,906 rebounds and 3rd with 403 steals.
