Noting that everyone contributed to the UEFA Cup championship, Fatih Terim said:

"It may seem like our captain and our team lifted the trophy that day. In fact, it was Galatasaray's own values that lifted that trophy. The fans, the community, the high school, the football team and the management lifted this trophy. And where we are is a historical place. This is not a school, but a place of ideas. European success is already in Galatasaray's genes. This success is the march of those who worked together and believed together. I congratulate everyone who contributed that day and the fans. No serious success is a coincidence. The UEFA Cup victory is the success of 4 years of working and believing together. I remember what I said after the UEFA Cup: "I feel like I have a child." I couldn't describe my joy. 26 years on, it has become clear how important this success is. I would like to thank the footballers who contributed to this success for bringing this beautiful trophy to the country."
