Flamengo extended the contract of the 40-year-old coach, who won the Copa Libertadores, the league title and the Brazilian Super Cup last season, until December 2027.
Flamengo started 2026 on a bad note, losing both the Brazilian Super Cup and the 2026 South American Super Cup (Recopa Sudamericana) last month and winning only 1 of its 3 league matches.
The 40-year-old young coach managed to win 7 trophies in his 17 months at Flamengo, one of which was the Libertadores. On the other hand, Flamengo managed to defeat Madureira 8-0 away from home in their last match under Filipe Luis.
