According to French newspaper L'Equipe, the 38-year-old Pocognoli, who replaced Adi Hütter as technical director on October 11, does not have the BEPF (Professional Football Trainer Diploma) or equivalent diploma that allows him to coach a team in Ligue 1, so the club has to pay a fine every match.

Monaco has paid a fine of €425,000 for the Belgian coach, who has made 17 appearances so far. The club does not face any sanctions in the UEFA Champions League.

750 THOUSAND EUROS UNTIL THE END OF THE SEASON

According to the report, the Monaco management put Damien Perrinelle, one of Pocognoli's assistants, on the roster as technical director in a match to avoid a fine, but since he was still studying for his diploma, he was also fined. Perrinelle took advantage of the situation to have his salary increased by the club.

When Perrinelle's name was not a solution, the club started to leave the technical director section of the roster blank.

If the Belgian coach completes the season, Monaco will pay a total fine of 750 thousand euros.

In the statement made by the club, it was stated that this rule was taken into account in the negotiations with the 38-year-old coach in October and the salary adjustment was made accordingly.

Monaco, who collected 28 points in 21 matches in Ligue 1 after 8 wins, 4 draws and 9 defeats, is in 10th place. The French representative, who ranked 21st in the UEFA Champions League and reached the last 16 play-off round, was paired with another French team Paris Saint-Germain in this round. Monaco was eliminated in the French Cup.
