In the 2018 World Cup match against England, the striker was delighted with Belgium's goal and unfortunately hit the ball against the post of the England goal and the returning ball hit him directly in the face.
Speaking to Pickx, Batshuayi described the moment in the following words:"A lot of players do that after a goal, but the ball hit the post and came back and hit me in the eye. I thought, 'How is that possible?' It hurt a lot, but it was the World Cup, I hadn't played much and I was in the starting 11 in that game. I said, 'I can't go out like this.' Then I looked at the bench, I asked for a substitution to come off, but they said, 'Come on Michy, keep going."
