It had been reported that Başakşehir, which started the new Super League season with three losses in five matches, would part ways with head coach Nuri Şahin. The Istanbul-based team has officially announced its decision regarding Şahin.
A meeting between Başakşehir Head Coach Nuri Şahin and club president Göksel Gümüşdağ resulted in a decision to continue working together. Speaking to TRT Spor, Gümüşdağ said, “Coach Nuri took us to Europe, and we have no doubt he’ll do it again.”

3 LOSSES IN 5 MATCHES
After being eliminated by Finnish side Inter Turku in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League, the Orange-and-Blue have also started the Super League with 3 losses in 5 matches. Following a 5-0 loss on the road against Amedspor, it was claimed that the team would part ways with Şahin. The Başakşehir management held a meeting with the young head coach today.
Göksel Gümüşdağ made the following statement:
We’ve experienced the kind of fluctuations that can happen in any team. However, we’re still only in the fifth week of the league. We’ve had some negative results on the field, but there are no issues from an administrative or technical standpoint. Nuri Şahin is like a brother to me, and he’s a teammate with whom we’ll walk this path for a long time. Coach Nuri led us to Europe, and we have no doubt he’ll do so again. We’re a quality team, and we’ll bring that quality back to the field.
