In a statement from Barcelona, it was stated that a pre-trial mandatory mediation request had been filed due to certain remarks made by Florentino Perez during a press conference on May 12 and in an interview with a media outlet the following day.
Barcelona argued that the statements in question were untrue and damaged the club’s image and reputation, and demanded that Perez retract them.
It was stated that the purpose of the application is to ensure that Perez retracts his statements, which were “made knowingly and are defamatory in nature.”
If the Real Madrid president refuses to back down, the two powerhouse clubs will face off in court.
