Ukrainian team Shakhtar Donetsk hosted AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Champions League Quarterfinal rematch. Arda Turan's team, who won the first match 3-0 at home, managed to advance to the semifinals of the tournament by drawing 2-2 away from home. Arda Turan made history by becoming the first manager to reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Conference League.

Arda Turan's team eliminated Lech Poznan in the last 16 round of the UEFA Conference League. After knocking Dutch club AZ Alkmaar out of the tournament in the quarterfinals, Shakhtar Donetsk advanced to the semifinals. The Ukrainian team will face Crystal Palace or Fiorentina in the semifinals.
